Did your internet go down? Are you looking for a quick way to fix it? Before calling your internet service provider, try these four simple solutions to fixing common internet issues.
If your internet is down, the first step should be rebooting your router. The router is a piece of network hardware that allows communication between your local home network (computers, mobile devices and others) and the internet.
To reboot the router, power it off or unplug it and wait 10 minutes. Do not reformat it or touch any factory default settings. Please note that routers do have a shelf life. Most customers need to replace their router every 2-3 years. If a new router is the fix, label it as a “WiFI router” not a “cable modem” or “DSL modem/router”.
Sometimes it could be the antenna that is the problem. Rebooting it can fix internet connectivity issues. To do this, unplug the POE adapter power. Then, when you plug it back in, the POE adapter light should be on. Also, check to ensure the black Ethernet wire is connected from the outside antenna to the POE port. A yellow/blue wire from the “LAN” port should be connected to the “Internet” port in the back of the router — not the numbered output ports.
Internet outages could be a widespread issue. Check your email to see if your local utilities company reported any in your area. These outages can be frustrating, and unfortunately, Cajun Broadband cannot reduce the downtime. However, we are committed to working closely with providers and communicate updates to our clients.
Did your power go out? If your power is out, your internet will not be able to work either. Modems and routers that enable our home networks require electricity to work. Therefore, if your power has gone out, your internet will not be functioning either. Even if your home is on backup power, you could still have connectivity issues. Please wait for your local utility company to restore services.
