Connecting Acadiana: Cajun Broadband's Triumph in Vermilion Parish!
We at Cajun Broadband are thrilled to share a massive milestone that is strengthening the future of Acadiana! This past Tuesday, December 9, 2025, we celebrated alongside community leaders, ConnectLA, and representatives from Governor Jeff Landry’s office to mark the successful completion of a pivotal broadband project in Vermilion Parish.
This achievement isn't just about cables and signals; it's about connecting the heart of Louisiana—our communities, our businesses, and our families—to the opportunities of the modern world.
A Heartfelt Thanks to Governor Landry and ConnectLA
We extend our sincere gratitude to Governor Jeff Landry and the team at ConnectLA, especially Executive Director Veneeth Iyengar, for their vision and commitment to closing the digital divide. The Governor's support and the structure provided by the Granting Unserved Municipalities Broadband Opportunities (GUMBO) 1.0 program were instrumental in making this project a reality.
As Governor Landry eloquently stated:
"Vermilion Parish is built on shrimp boats, rice fields, and the families who make a living from both. With the GUMBO broadband program, more than 500 homes and businesses now have reliable internet access that supports local schools and keeps small businesses thriving. This is how we help the coastal communities that define who we are in Louisiana.”
We are honored to have been the partner to deliver on this promise for the residents of Vermilion Parish.
💡 Bringing High-Speed Reliability to Vermilion
Through the GUMBO 1.0 program, reliable high-speed internet access is now reaching an abundance of homes and businesses across Vermilion Parish, in communities including Gueydan and Erath. This connection is vital for the parish’s largest sectors—agriculture, healthcare, and manufacturing—giving them the stability and room they need to grow.
As a local company, we take immense pride in the quality and resilience of the network we deployed. As one of our Managing Directors, Chris Disher, noted:
"It is fantastic, as a local company, to work with local officials, the ConnectLA office and the community to help northern Vermilion Parish gain access to the best broadband service available in the country. The network is fully underground and storm-ready to provide reliable connectivity no matter what happens."
This commitment to durable, local infrastructure is part of our promise to the people of Acadiana.
Louisiana Leading the Way
The GUMBO 1.0 program represents a significant $176 million investment across 48 parishes, connecting over 65,000 locations statewide. Louisiana’s proactive approach, making it the first state in the country to receive broadband funding from both the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the American Rescue Plan, is truly setting a national standard for coordinated, community-driven connectivity.
We are proud to be a part of a state that is committed to leading the nation in broadband expansion. This ribbon-cutting event, as celebrated with the support of State Representatives Troy Hebert and Jacob Landry, is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together.
Cajun Broadband is grateful for the opportunity to serve! We look forward to continuing our partnership with ConnectLA and state leaders to connect every corner of Acadiana and beyond.
